In 2009 Scotland hosts its first ever Homecoming year, created and timed to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Scotland's national poet and international cultural icon Robert Burns. From Burns Night to St Andrew's Day 2009, a country-wide programme of Homecoming events and activities will celebrate some of Scotland's great contributions to the world, including Burns himself.

From golf and whisky to rich culture and heritage, Scotland prides herself on her great contributions to the world as we know it, with the greatest of them all being her beloved poet, Robert Burns.
To celebrate all this, Homecoming Scotland is hosting a number of events all around the country with the 250th anniversary of Burns' birth at the heart of its campaign. To kick off the party Homecoming Scotland, in partnership with The Famous Grouse, Scotland's No.1 Whisky, invite you to join us in one of Scotland's great traditions.
So embrace the poet's dream of universal friendship and celebrate Robert Burns' 250th Birthday by being a part of the World's biggest ever Burns Supper.

Commemorative stamps on sale from Thu 22 Jan and during the year.
